Outdoor barbecues are one
of the best parts of summer. While you may have perfected your menu, music
playlist, and décor, there are still some important “to-do’s” to add to your
list. Here are some tips and tricks for planning a seamless party this summer.
o
Light
it up: Lighting is incredibly important to keep the party
going once the sun goes down.
Light up tables with tea lights, string up some Christmas
or bulb lights, or hang colorful paper lanterns throughout your backyard.
o
Keep
away insects: Nothing ruins an outdoor party like
having to constantly swat away bees and flies. Outdoor parties can be a pain
because they are attracted to the food. If you plan on serving the food
outside, remember to cover it up when it’s not being served. Also put lids on
any outdoor trash bins. To repel the bugs, consider setting up an outdoor
bonfire. The smoke frightens them away from the area. And just in case they won’t
leave you alone, keep insect repelling spray and candles on hand as well.
o
Stay
cool: Don’t let the Arizona heat ruin your big event. Fill
a cooler with ice and keep cold water bottles available for everyone at the
party. Installing patio misters ahead of time is an excellent way to keep your
guests cool. Misting systems are relatively cheap, and are easy to install. You
can even have some fun with DIY and make handheld paper fans for your guests. Go
to your local craft store and pick out construction paper with fun designs.
Your guests will be thankful, and they can also tie in with the décor.
o
Don’t
add to the heat: Provide a cool retreat by not heating up the
inside of your home. If the door to inside is constantly being opened, you don’t
want to make it hotter by heating up your kitchen while cooking. Stick to
outdoor grilling and recipes that don’t require the oven or the stove. Plan
your menu with sides such as coleslaw and fresh watermelon slices.
We hope you add these to
your list – your guests will be impressed at your hosting skills! Have a fun
time celebrating.
