Energy-Saving and Eco-Friendly Holiday Tips

Winter time brings parties, holiday festivities, and many decorations. It also brings a lot of extra energy and household waste. With so much going on this December, it may seem impossible to stay green, but we’ve got you covered. Here is our guide to having an Eco-friendly holiday season.

If you plan on exchanging gifts, recycle your old gift wrap. Consider saving wrapping paper from past gifts you have received. Instead of using a new sheet of wrapping paper, reuse the old one. The same is true for those holiday gift bags.  You can also try wrapping your gifts in newspaper, or other household items. This is an easy way to save money and produce less waste.
Try using energy-efficient LED lights to decorate your home. They last longer than traditional bulbs, and can save you more than 90% on energy costs. LED lights also come in a wide array of colors and designs.

In addition to using LED lights, remember to set your lights on a timer. It is easy to forget to turn them off and leave them on all night. Set your lights up to a timer so they are on and off at a specific time. This is an easy way to keep track of how much energy you are using as well. Timers can be found at your local hardware store.
